All teacher candidates are advised to bring a laptop computer for use in the BEd program. In terms of make and model, the choice is yours as long as the device is reliable and performs effectively to meet the needs of a teacher candidate (e.g., ability to complete assignments, create lesson and activity plans, research and access resources).
Mac OSX Devices
Because Nipissing University’s Technology Services department (UTS-A137) features a staff of Apple Certified Technicians who can provide support for Mac computer related issues, and because Mac laptops are the only devices that can legally run both Windows and Mac operating systems and software, many teacher candidates choose Mac OSX devices.
A 10%-off discount for teacher candidates experiencing non-Mac computer issues has been arranged between Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) and the North Bay Computer Doctors (1236 Algonquin Avenue, North Bay, 705-845-0714).
