Indigenous Education Programs

Summer 2020

Application deadline has been extended to June 1, 2020!

  • Indigenous Teacher Education Program, Year 1

  • Teacher of Indigenous Language as a Second Language, Year 1

  • Indigenous Classroom Assistant Diploma Program, Year 1 & 2

Important Update due to COVID-19

Because of the changing nature of the current COVID-19 health crisis and the uncertainty of when current provincial and federal guidelines and legislation related to COVID-19 will end (ie. social distancing, restriction of groups 5 or larger, etc.), Nipissing University is unable to guarantee when its entire North Bay campus, including classrooms, residence services, libraries and cafeterias will resume regular operations and be open to the general public. As such, academic programming for the summer-based Indigenous Education Programs will be delivered using online learning systems.

In addition, because of the transition to online learning this year, the Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP) and the Teacher of Indigenous Language as a Second Language Program (TILSL) will be delivered over 3 years.

Please note that we have extended the application deadline to June 1, 2020 to assist applicants who maybe having difficulty accessing admission documentation at this time.

We deeply appreciate your continued support during this difficult time. Please know that the entire Nipissing University community of support staff, administrators and faculty are working hard to prepare enriching and engaging programs so that your individual goal of becoming an OCT Certified teacher or an educational assistant will begin this summer!
